Mission, Vision & Values

Mission Statement

The Dam is a Christian organization committed to being a welcoming and safe community for youth at-risk. We become a friend and resource to youth and their families by building relationships and providing programs that focus on their physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Vision Statement

The Meadowvale community will become a "dam": neighbours will know the youth of their streets; police and youth will have a positive relationship; churches, schools and social service agencies will become partners; families will be embraced; and together the community will be a friend and resource to youth at-risk. Individual youth and the entire youth culture will be engaged and transformed. Others will be inspired to have a similar vision for youth in their communities across Canada

Core Values

Love, Dignity and Respect for Youth
Youth are worth it. They are made by God and possess inherent worth.

Relationships
We are created by God to be in relationship with each other. We come alongside youth and build friendships of trust and respect.

Authentic Community
Youth can be themselves when they feel welcome, safe and accepted.

Prevention
We are a dam – stopping the flow of youth at-risk in our community from experiencing the pain of homelessness, broken relationships and isolation.

The Journey Towards Full Potential
We encourage youth to discover who they are and know where they are going, to make a positive impact in the world as they reach toward their full potential.

Building Team
Staff and volunteers are our most valuable resources. We care for and invest in them.

Working Together
Partnering with others who have a heart for youth at-risk, we make a greater impact than on our own.

Equipping Others
We have a responsibility to share what we have learned with others to develop their capacity and effectiveness.

Faith in Action
We relate to others with the compassion and grace that flows out of our Christian faith.
