The Dam is a community program for youth aged 13 to 19. All teens are welcome, free of charge, to come to the drop-in and participate in our programs, regardless of race, creed or colour. The drop-in is named, "The Dam", because it is our hope that the drop-in is a dam that stops the flow of teens from becoming homeless street kids in the Downtown core of Toronto. It is our goal to be the friends of youth and a resource to help them stay at home, in school and in the community. The Dam is providing the grandmothers, the father figures and the healthy brothers and sisters that many of these kids are starving for. We're committed to providing an emotional entrance level into our program that's safe enough and low enough to allow even the most broken youth to get in and to get help. Our goal is long-term, consistent, loving presence in the lives of kids who have lost the ability to trust adults. |
